Cookie Policy
Last updated July 10, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Daniel Hsu LLC ("Company," "we," "us," and "our") uses cookies and similar technologies to recognize you when you visit our website at https://withmatilda.com ("Website"). It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them.
In some cases we may use cookies to collect personal information, or that becomes personal information if we combine it with other information.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website owners in order to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.
Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, Daniel Hsu LLC ) are called "first-party cookies." Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called "third-party cookies." Third-party cookies enable third-party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (e.g., advertising, interactive content, and analytics). The parties that set these third-party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits certain other websites.
Why do we use cookies?
We use first- and third- party cookies for several reasons. Some cookies are required for technical reasons in order for our Website to operate, and we refer to these as "essential" or "strictly necessary" cookies. Others tell us how the Website is being used, so we can find what is broken and improve it. We do not use cookies for advertising, and no third party serves advertising through our Website. This is described in more detail below.
How can I control cookies?
You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject cookies. We do not show a cookie banner, because we set no cookies that a banner would ask you about. The only cookies we set without asking are the ones that sign you in and keep you signed in, and the Website cannot work without them. Everything we set is listed below.
You can set or amend your web browser controls to accept or refuse cookies, as described below. If you refuse the cookies that keep you signed in, you will not be able to use the parts of the Website that need an account.
The specific types of first- and third-party cookies served through our Website and the purposes they perform are described in the table below (please note that the specific cookies served may vary depending on the specific Online Properties you visit):
Analytics and customization cookies:
These cookies tell us, in aggregate, how the Website is being used — which pages people open and where they get stuck — so we can find what is broken and improve it. Google Analytics runs only on our public pages — the homepage and the pages linked from it, including this one. It is not loaded once you sign in, and it is not loaded on a form someone sent you a link to, so it never sees a page showing a student's record.| Name: | _ga |
|---|---|
| Purpose: | Distinguishes one visitor from another on our public pages, so we can count visits rather than page loads. Set on the public pages only, never after you sign in. |
| Provider: | withmatilda.com |
| Service: | Google Analytics |
| Type: | http_cookie |
| Expires in: | 2 years |
| Name: | _ga_* |
|---|---|
| Purpose: | Records the state of a visit to our public pages — when it began, and whether it is still the same visit. Set on the public pages only, never after you sign in. |
| Provider: | withmatilda.com |
| Service: | Google Analytics |
| Type: | http_cookie |
| Expires in: | 2 years |
| Name: | ph_*_posthog |
|---|---|
| Purpose: | Tells us which pages were visited and which controls were used, so we can find what is broken. Set only on the production website. Session replays are recorded with all on-page text and all form inputs masked, so the content of a record is never captured. |
| Provider: | withmatilda.com |
| Service: | PostHog |
| Type: | http_cookie and html_local_storage |
| Expires in: | 1 year |
Strictly necessary cookies:
These cookies are required for the Website to work. They record that you signed in, so that you are not asked again on every page. They cannot be refused without losing access to your account.| Name: | matilda_session |
|---|---|
| Purpose: | Records that you are signed in. Not readable by JavaScript, and sent over HTTPS only. |
| Provider: | withmatilda.com |
| Service: | Matilda |
| Type: | http_cookie |
| Expires in: | 30 days, or 12 hours for a Matilda staff account |
| Name: | matilda_guest |
|---|---|
| Purpose: | Set only when you open a form someone sent you a link to, and only for that form. Records that the link was valid, so the form can be filled in without an account. |
| Provider: | withmatilda.com |
| Service: | Matilda |
| Type: | http_cookie |
| Expires in: | When the form link expires, or sooner |
How can I control cookies on my browser?
As the means by which you can refuse cookies through your web browser controls vary from browser to browser, you should visit your browser's help menu for more information. The following is information about how to manage cookies on the most popular browsers:
What about other tracking technologies, like web beacons?
Cookies are not the only way to recognize or track visitors to a website. We may use other, similar technologies from time to time, like web beacons (sometimes called "tracking pixels" or "clear gifs"). These are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enables us to recognize when someone has visited our Website or opened an email including them . This allows us, for example, to monitor the traffic patterns of users from one page within a website to another, to deliver or communicate with cookies, and to see whether an email we sent was opened. In many instances, these technologies are reliant on cookies to function properly, and so declining cookies will impair their functioning.
Do you serve targeted advertising?
No. We do not display advertising on our Website, and we do not permit third parties to serve advertising through it. No cookie or similar technology on our Website is used to build an advertising profile about you or to target advertisements to you, here or on any other website. The third-party technologies we do use are for product analytics and error monitoring, described in the table above.
How often will you update this Cookie Policy?
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Please therefore revisit this Cookie Policy regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies.
The date at the top of this Cookie Policy indicates when it was last updated.
