We started Matilda after working alongside school teams and seeing the same problem again and again: the data was already there, but acting on it meant building a process by hand, managing every step and following up until the work was done.

Who we are
Veronica Edwards
BA Sociology, Princeton University
Veronica has spent the past decade working in K–12 education across data, analytics and operations. She led analytics at ReadWorks, a literacy nonprofit used in 93% of the nation’s lowest-income K–8 schools, and Polygence, which pairs high schoolers with research mentors. She joined both as their first data hire and built each analytics function from scratch. She later served as Chief of Staff to Polygence’s CEO, leading work across strategy, operations and growth.
Danny Hsu
BA Computer Science, UC Berkeley
Danny has spent the past decade building AI systems and software at scale. At LinkedIn, he led a 20-person engineering team building the data and application infrastructure behind Messaging, Sales Navigator and Recruiter. He later co-founded Bramble, an AI real estate brokerage backed by Y Combinator. At Matilda, he brings that experience to building reliable AI systems for the complex work schools do every day.
